felt 3

Slug and MURS are back for part three. This time they have the inclusion of Aesop Rock production to help level the playing field. Sort of ironic, MURS isn’t with Warner Bros. anymore, however this is being distributed by….WARNER BROS./Rhymesayers. The “TI’s” always win. I guess that’s the lesson here? That and Rosie Perez has hit the wall and is no longer worth “jumping for”, even if you’re not a white man.

maybe in another life, in another time.

Hip hop, other ground all stars P.L.G. (Para La Gente) is gaining new fans everyday with debut album “People Living Growing.” Led by Cambio’s smooth and playful flows, the quintet recently released a hot video for single "Synth Love," a track that challenges the notion of "he/she is not your type" with a banging club beat.

The upstart band is fresh from an ambitious album tour in Mexico with Bocafloja and other international artists this past summer, getting crowds hyped with lyrical, rocking, funkdafied, fire. Based from Cali’s Central Coast, PLG has been steady swaying major city nightclubs, college campuses, political protest rallies, music festivals, down to all-ages shows at youth centers since its birth in 2003. check out their myspace and buy their cd, its fresh. they rock a tiny bit of Spanish, thats a plus, its sounds uber smooth.

another free mixtape, Blacastan who?

Blacastan released this 2006 album “Me Against The Radio” and received some good press and reviews. This is a UGHH-sponsored FREE download of that album – remixed by DJ Food Stamp and DJ JayCeeOh. I downloaded it this morning, and ended up bumping it all day and I recommend you do the same. Blacastan’s “Me Against The Radio.”

I wish I knew Natalie Portman!

I’m so amped they dropped a video for this. I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman is one of my favorite tracks off K-os’ latest album “Yes!” – which is in the running for my favorite album of 2009. This track features fellow Canadian hip-hop superstar Saukrates. Also, its a western...cant get much better.

Brother Ali “Us” Album Review

This is probably the best album of the year. And that’s saying a lot – because a couple classic/ underground hip-hop albums have dropped in 2009. I’ve been listening to Brother Ali’s “Us” consistently for over a month now, and it is almost flawless from beginning to end. I believe this could be the definitive album of Ali’s hip-hop career. It appears to be the accumulation of years of hard work, sacrifice and growth. If you haven’t picked up a copy of Brother Ali’s “Us” yet, now is the time.

SONIC SMASH!

http://www.netweed.com/prohiphop/graf2/dj-spinna-sonic-smash.jpg

For those who like their hip hop laced with tough-talk and gun references, please move on. “Sonic Smash” definitely won’t be your cup of tea. Rather than to employ a who’s who of hip-hop heavyweights, DJ Spinna opts for a mixed bag of artists that he enjoys and wants to present to the masses. This is a must buy for anyway underground hip/hop kingpin. The track "New York" is below...

New York

Here is just some solid EastCoast underground hip/hop. If anything, this is one of the truest tastes of music that someone could receive. This video/song/music is basiclly what I put this blog together for, too show the freshness of this kind of musik. This is a new video from DJ Spinna’s album "Sonic Smash" featuring Krym of The Jigmastas. The song is about life in pre-gentrified New York, which was basically the ghetto.

Kottenmouth kings video, "Where I'm going." Whenever I watch this video, I think there is a deeper meaning... But then I remember that its the Kings and they dont have feelings. But other than that its a pretty sweet vid and a catchy hook.

AESOP ROCK X ADIDAS

3790

This Stan Smith shoe designed by Aesop Rock is the third release in the limited edition four-part series with adidas that also includes designs from fine artists Herbert Baglione, David Choe and Sam Flores. Aesop Rock is an American hip-hop artist from that is known for his storytelling style of rap. He has collaborated with established entities such as Nike and painter Jeremy Fish on various projects, and he is excited to introduce his first sneaker design with Upper Playground. Aesop Rock explains the design concept behind his Stan Smith sneaker: "The faded green and gold colors have a strange eerie-meets-regal vibe that I liked when designing the art for last year's None Shall Pass album. I wanted to continue that color scheme, and keep it pretty simple. I didn't want anything too intrusive. Basically I just wanted something that I'd rock, and my mother might even wear them." There are only 500 pairs and I am no where close to getting a pair... If u know someone that has one, steal them and then give them to me.

The Pigs

Track of the Week: One Be Lo “The Pigs”

One Be Lo just signed with MYX Music Label to release his upcoming album “B.A.B.Y.” Apparently, the new album is autobiographical of the One Be Lo’s life as a youth in Pontiac Michigan, focusing on the experiences with school, peers, family, the army, and crime. And what’s more, “B.A.B.Y.” will be a multi-media project encompassing music, film, books, clothing, and toys. The Pigs, which features Mike Posner, did not make the album, so it must suck right? nah... Click below to listen to One Be Lo’s The Pigs:
